In this video you’ll see a shimano 105 FD 5800 front derailleur installed and adjusted. The process will basically be the same for all the 1st generation 11 speed front derailleurs including FD-9000 Dura Ace, FD-6800 Ultegra, and FD-4700 Tiagra.
Most mistakes occur during set up come from too little cable tension. It is important to turn the low limit screw clockwise until the outer plate of the front derailleur is out as far as the big chainring (maybe even a few millimeters more) before attaching the shift cable to the derailleur. If you try to fasten the cable the same as previous front derailleur models, you will not get enough cable tension to shift properly to the big ring.
I also demonstrate how to set the converter pin without the Shimano alignment gauge tool (TL-FD68), as well as experiment with the converter on and off.
