“Fold Your Flapping Wings“ rare song from IOLANTHE by Gilbert & Sullivan - Peccadillo Players

In a rarely performed song which Gilbert cut from the show after the first performances, Strephon (Fred Sederholm) considers the real problems Parliament should address but doesn’t - poverty, crime and homelessness. Considered too radical for Victorian audiences. Quite a moving performance by Fred, and the song deserves to be far better known, showing another, more serious side of Gilbert. From the 2000 Peccadillo Players production.
