DESIGNER MONICA KOH 2024. 2.5(Mon) DDP ⠀ Artemis’s‘Hwatu’ (花鬪) | War of flowers 한국이 일본 강점기에 들어온 이 ’꽃들의 싸움’이라고 해석하는 ’화투’는 우리 민족의 슬픔을 잠시나마 잊게 해주는 놀이로, 기나긴 역사를 통해 이는 포르투갈의 ’Carta’ 카드놀이에서 비롯된 것으로 추정됩니다. 디자이너 모니카고는 화투가 할머니의 아침 운세로 사용되었던 추억이 남아있으며, 한국인들에게는 명절에 가족들이 모이는 즐거운 카드놀이입니다. 24 F/W Collection은 한국의 민화, 민화투와 그리스신화의 아르테미스에서 영감을 받아 메종 너하고 만의 독창적인 스토리로 재해석합니다. 이 컬렉션은 동시대의 사회적 문제로 부각되고 있는 이스라엘의 전쟁과 약자에 대한 문제를 다루며, 한국의 대표적인 카드놀이인’민화투’를 패셔너블한 아이템으로 소개하고자 합니다. ⠀ The ’fight of flowers,’ interpreted as ’Hwatu’ during the Japanese occupation of Korea, is a game that momentarily distracts from the sorrow of our nation. It is speculated to have originated from the Portuguese card game called ’Carta.’ For me as a designer, Hwatuholds memories of my grandmother predicting the morning fortune with the cards, and for Koreans, it is a delightful card game played during holidays. The 24 F/W Collection draws inspiration from Korean folk paintings, Hwatu, and the Greek mythology figure Artemis. It reinterprets these elements into Maison Nica’s unique story. This collection aims to shed light on contemporary social issues, particularly focusing on the Israeli war and the challenges faced by the vulnerable.
