Kate shemirani talks about the negative health effects of not getting enough iodine. The iodine crisis has become a worldwide epidemic due to environmental pollutants that cause a deficiency that can make us sick, fat, and stupid. Iodized salt is a nutritional scam that provides a false sense of security there is evidence that iodine deficiency corresponds to a dramatic rise of breast, thyroid, and prostate cancer. Goiter is thse most obvious manifestation of iodine deficiency. The primary activity of the thyroid gland is to concentrate iodine absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and circulating in blood to make thyroid hormone. Low iodine intake leads to reduced T4 and T3 production and, thus, hypothyroidism. There is then an increase in thyrotropin (TSH) secretion in an attempt to restore T4 and T3 levels to normal. There is a book by Lynne Farrow and David Brownstein MD called “The Iodine Crisis“ which explains how iodine deficiency has become a problem worldwide.
