In 1948 he graduated from the Tbilisi Conservatory in composition class. He was a student of A. M. Balanchivadze. He began his creative activity in 1940. The first work in the cinema took place in 1951, in the documentary film Storming the Eleven Peaks. He was a violinist in the symphony orchestras of the Georgian Philharmonic 1941 1945, and then the Georgian Radio 1945 1949. Since 1962, he headed the music department of the Tbilisi Pedagogical Institute. Since 1964 he taught at the Tbilisi Conservatory.
