While the band are keen to retain their 80s influences (Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Giorgio Moroder,...), they are injecting new and much more colourful sonic textures into their universe, with Kavinsky, The Midnight, The Weeknd and even Daft Punk as references! AN AMAZING TREASURE: Beyond the nostalgia inherent in Synthwave, the leader of SFMD invites you on a 9-month journey into his own memories: all the upcoming tracks were directly inspired by the discovery of a real treasure: Vincent Lemineur is extremely lucky to have a devoted mother who described her children’s daily lives EVERY DAY in diaries dating from 1968 to 1988: Thanks to these fantastic intimate accounts of the past, written with unique precision, he was able to relive his passage from childhood to adolescence via the diaries from 1982 to 1988, reconnecting with his influences, his dreams back at the times time, his first Atari 2600, his first BMX, Pop Culture, his fascination with cinema and synthesizers, his first dance party or the birth of this irrational love for 2 icons of the 80s: Sylvester Stallone and Mathilda May, who remain his 2 absolute idols to this day! Dozens of illustrated extracts can be seen on the SFMD FB page 👇👇👇 AN OMNIPRESENT ICON: Mathilda May If the figure on the cover of the single ’Distant City Lights’ looks familiar to you, it could be because you grew up in the 80s. In 1987, after discovering the existence of the French actress Mathilda May on the cover of a film magazine, the singer found his ultimate muse and swore that he would meet her one day... They have since become friends and she describes him as “her guardian angel“ in her autobiography! It was therefore essential for Vincent to have her on the cover of the first single from this new chapter of SFMD! And she accepted enthusiastically!
