HMV Electric Gramophone

This is “HMV“ (His Masters Voice) Gramophone from around 1939. Although its branded “HMV“, the motor is a Collaro AC37, a Induction motor with a Governer like the older “wind up“ gramophones which directly drives the platter. I was given this by my brother who had saved it from a neighbours skip a few decades ago. I cleaned and used brasso to get rid of marks on the bakelite cabinet, then used car polish to buff up. The pickup coil was open circuit, so i had to unwind and repair that, also one of the weights on the governer had come off, so that had to be fastened back on. The needles are finer than the needles used on wind up gramophones, so although I have a few, I will need to source some more.
