Infected eardrum revealed after Ear Wax Removal using iCLEARscope®

The client had a fully occluded ear canal. The outer aspect of his ear wax was quite dry and hard and I used an ear hook to remove this. Beyond the outer hard layer of ear wax was a more softer and wetter type of ear wax which was best removed using suction. At this stage it was evident that the client was also suffering from otitis externa (ear type eczema) characterized by an inflamed and ’reddish’ ear canal appearance.
