Here I sing a song which is originally sung by the great Jewish Hassidic singer Mordechai Ben David. The title - Av Harachamim - in Hebrew - means ’father of the mercy’, which means the One who has the most mercy in the world and from Whom all mercy stems and comes forth. The words are taken from the Sabbath morning prayers after the reading from the Torah, in which we pray to God to remember those who gave up their lives in sanctification of His holy name. We ask that ’Yizkereim’ - He should remember them - for good, with all the other righteous people of the world. A deeply moving song.
