Following the success of the first three Supermax albums, the band gave two successful concerts on New Years Eve 1979 in Tunisia, and spent the first part of 1980 touring behind the Iron Curtain, performing in Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, and Yugoslavia, before returning to the studio for their 4th album, Types Of Skin, which was released October 1980. While the single Ganja Generation did not become a hit (Ganja meaning Cannabis, a reference to the young Jamaican generation with no future prospect), the album eventually still sold 230,000 copies in Germany, although it failed to climb the charts.
