Philippe Devaux Piano - Milosz Magin - Scherzo

Milosz Magin (1929-1999) was a Polish-French pianist and composer. After an initial period of study in Lodz, he continued his education at the State Academy of Music in Warsaw. He studied piano with Margerita Trombini-Kazuro and composition with Jan Adam Maklakiewicz and Kazimierz Sikorski. In 1955 he received an honorable mention at the 5th International Frederic Chopin Piano Competition. In 1957, he won prizes at the Marguerite Long and Jacques Thibaud Competitions in Paris and the José Vianna da Motta Competition in Lisbon. From 1957 to 1959 he lived in London and in 1960 in Paris, where he taught a piano class at the Sergei Rakhmaninov Conservatory from 1963 to 1973 and at the International Conservatory of Music from 1975 to 1980. Milosz Magin recorded the complete works of Chopin, gave master classes in piano at the Academy of Music in Lodz, and was a member of the jury of the Karol Szymanowski International Competition (1992 and 1997).
