Polish tango “Rachela“ 1933 - Mieczysław Fogg & Ork. H. Warsa

Mieczysław Fogg - Rachela, Tango (Swidler-Rald) Orkiestra Henryka Warsa, Syrena-Electro 1939 (Polish) NOTE: This is another of the famous Polish-Jewish tangos from interwar Warsaw. Other, even more famous ones are “Rebeka“, “It’s The Last Sunday“ or “The Little Town Bełz“. Mieczysław Fogg with the accompaniment of the Henryk Wars Orchestra does an extraordinary job. The only drawback is that the first two seconds of the recording have a deep scratch in the groove, I tried to reduce it not very effectively. Anyway, let’s enjoy this lovely song. The text is about a young man Jakubek, resident of a small town, who is in love with a girl named Rachela. Yet he doesn’t have the courage to tell it to her. So he doesn’t sleep at nights and he doesn’t it on days, and keeps going to the synagogue to beg for receiving more courage to finally confess his love to her.
