16th-century flash mob surprises Hardwick Hall visitors
On Saturday 13th April, visitors to the High Great Chamber at Hardwick Hall, Derbyshire, were in for a surprise...
To celebrate the opening of the ’Virtue and Vice’ exhibition, curated by Dr Helen Smith (English and Related Literature) and the ’Conversion Narratives’ project team, a York quartet gave an apparently spontaneous rendition of the wooden sheet music that adorns the famous Eglantine Table at Hardwick. ’Les Canards Chantants’ - Sarah Holland (Soprano), Robin Bier (Alto), Edward Ingham (Tenor), Graham Bier (Bass) - transcribed and edited the music prior to the performance.
