The Leitha is the small river that has for centuries traditionally been the administrative border between Austria and Hungary. It was not an ethnic border, as German speakers live also east of this river, but it marked the old fault line of conflict between steppe nomadic peoples and settled people after the collapse of the Danube Limes.
Today we take a look at the sourroundings of the Roman settlement between the small towns of Leithaprodersdorf and Loretto and the mysterious hills of the Leithagebirge.
