1961 Orrtronic Tapette Loop Tape Player P-100A

This very rare Orrtronic “Tapeplayer“ model P-100A plays a “Tapette“ loop tape cartridge, basically an early prototype to the common 8-track player. The Tapette has two selectable programs. The one playing here is “Hawaiian Paradise“, with a short excerpt from track 2, “Polka Extravaganza“ at the end of the video. The Tapette was developed by John Herbert Orr, who pioneered the post-war magnetic tape industry with a little help from Operation Paperclip!
