Alistair Smythe Tribute

Remember when I said that I thought Molten Man was underrated? Well today’s villain puts that statement of mine to shame. What I mean is that nobody and I mean NOBODY seems to care about poor Alistair Smythe here at all. Hell, I’m willing to bet that before I made this video, most of you probably completely forgot that this guy even existed. The thing is I never understood why Smythe is so overlooked considering how he’s actually a really awesome villain in my opinion. First of all, he’s a pretty MASSIVE threat considering how he builds giant Spider-Slayer robots capable of leveling entire cities and how he was later turned (or turned himself into depending on the version) into a cyborg himself that’s even stronger than Spider-Man. Hell, I’d even say he’s as dangerous as the likes of Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus, considering how he’s both a physical and intellectual threat which isn’t very common in Spider-Man’s rogue gallery. In addition, he’s also a really tragic character especially in Spider-Man TAS. He was actually one of my favorite villains on that show as he was the only villain other than Green Goblin that I felt bad for and his growing hatred of all the people who wronged him and his father throughout the show was very compelling and well-done. I’m really hoping he’s the secondary antagonist of the next PS4 game like how Mr. Negative had that role in the first game because a villain as badass and interesting as Smythe really does deserve a lot more attention. Next up will be the last villain of this series which will be the Harry Osborn version of Green Goblin. After that I will probably start production on my one year special video but we’ll see how long it takes for me to get my next video out.
