Vertebrae are these big things, there are discs in between and on both sides facet joints or just facets. And This part is first thing to crack in our body and fatigues during prolonged sedentary load. What is going on here?
Vertebrae are a rigid bony formation. And the Intervertebral disks have soft fibrous structure. Which can over time compress, squeeze, trample. Like a shoe.
If you measure person’s height in the morning. Person will be always shorter in the evening.
Why? Because moisture comes out of the intervertebral discs. They tamp down and become shorter. And if the damper has sagged, then all the load goes to the facet. And joints folds according to the principle of a telescopic rod, and the upper facet slides onto the lower one, and you can see how they move. There is a compression of the facets, friction. This whole thing gets tired, rubs. Therefore in this spot the neck often crunches.
