Co-producing Hydrogen and Valuable Solid Carbon from Natural Gas
SoCalGas® and C-Zero invite you to watch a seminar to learn about a new process for transforming natural gas into hydrogen and a solid carbon co-product. C-Zero’s technology, which was initially developed at the University of California Santa Barbara, uses high temperatures to split methane - the primary molecule in natural gas- into hydrogen and solid carbon in a process known as methane pyrolysis. The hydrogen can be used in place of natural gas to help decarbonize a wide array of existing applications, including hydrogen production for fuel cell vehicles, while the carbon can be permanently sequestered. The workshop was held on June 23, 2021.
