Jinjoti Pallavi (Odissi) by Sutra Foundation - Rentak Bumi

Graceful and lyrical movements, framed in complex patterns, exquisitely complement the melody and intricate rhythm of the pallavi. Both dance and music are a matching marriage of dance and music. The pace is slow in the beginning and then progresses to fast rhythmic patterns, ultimately challenging the dancers to sustain grace of quicksilver hand gestures with fast agile foot works. The mise en scene is a dance class where a dancer daydreams of a day when she will eventually be ready to perform on stage. Sutra Foundation, a bastion of traditional and contemporary arts bequeathed to Malaysia by Datuk Ramli Ibrahim, was established as a full-fledged Foundation in 2007.
