Curious Fish performed by . featuring Katsura Kan 6/5/2003

Raw Hi-8 video shoot (Sony handycam) for the Performance Artist Network’s performance of “Curious Fish“, featuring Katsura Kan. Shot May 9th 2003 and digitized from a 2nd generation tape on 6/5/17. Bear in mind, I never had foreknowledge of the choreography or even where I should set up when I shot for PAN. I had no additional lighting and had to shoot on auto focus as I never knew where anyone would be at any given moment. So, it was like my own practice of “camera butoh“ (as Ian Lucero and I used to joke). It was a truly unique experience shooting for this group of performers and one through which I learned quite a bit; about performance, about shooting and about myself as an artist.
