The Age of Atlantic Revolution - A Book Talk with Patrick Griffin

The Age of Atlantic Revolution was a defining moment in western history. Our understanding of rights, of what makes the individual an individual, of how to define a citizen versus a subject, of what states should or should not do, of how labor, politics, and trade would be organized, of the relationship between the church and the state, and of our attachment to the nation all derive from this period (c. 1750–1850). Join us Thursday, May 11th, from 4-5 p.m. ET for a book talk with Patrick Griffin, Madden-Hennebry Family Professor of History; Thomas Moore and Judy Livingston Director, Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies at the University of Notre Dame and author of The Age of Atlantic Revolution: The Fall and Rise of a Connected World. Griffin will discuss how people in an interconnected world struggled through violence, liberation, and war to reimagine themselves and sovereignty.
