This is a massive job, especially doing it alone. I spent days researching, reading the service manual, and speaking with everybody I could before starting, so I had some idea of what I was getting into. Several JLG technicians from my awesome audience have contacted me and graciously offered their advice which has been really helpful! Thank you all! I start with disconnecting the control box and hydraulic lines on the platform, and then disconnect the chain tension adjusters and chains which frees up the boom sections. I remove the hydraulic cylinder with is 26’ long!? Then I remove the mid and fly booms together. Finally, I remove the chains, and slide the fly boom out of the mid boom. The cylinder pin gave me fits the whole way, and ended up getting the better of me at the end. SMH. Is this why they say: If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!? But it was broken. The telescope cylinder needs a rebuild as it was leaking causing it to drift when in use.
