The same tragic event as interpreted by two different art forms: 1) The 1971 British film “Nicholas and Alexandra“ and the 1957 Symphony No. 11 by Dmitri Shostakovich. The 11th is sometimes called “a film score without the film“. The slow motion in the middle section was done to add dramatic effect and (more importantly) match the film to the music.
