Summary; Consciousness and its neural basis in the brain remain a mystery. Most current theories highlight the special nature of neural mechanisms yielding consciousness. In contrast, I suppose that some of the most fundamental non-special features of the brain’s neural activity, namely its own intrinsic spatial topography and temporal dynamic, are key in yielding consciousness. This is the core of the Temporo-spatial Theory of Consciousness (TTC) whose four empirical mechanisms, temporo-spatial nestedness, alignment, expansion and globaliza
