LS Looking along O’Connell Street and Nelson’s Pillar can be seen with the top missing. MS Crowds around the Pillar in the late afternoon. MS Pan down Pillar to where workmen are stacking sandbags at the point where the explosive charge will be laid, where the Pillar joins the plinth. VS The Pillar floodlit at night for work to continue. CU An Army officer turning detonator to demolish the remains. MS The remains of the Pillar blowing up. MV The surviving plinth. LS Remains of the Pillar in daylight. Various shots, men start to clear away the rubble around the plinth. Pan down windows of surrounding buildings which were smashed in the explosion.
