Joining me today is Juha Raivio, the lead guitarist and main songwriter, founder of the band Swallow the Sun. STS have a brand new album (their first since Moonflowers from 2021) called Shining, which is out 10/18/24 on Century Media Records. STS are one of my fave Finnish death/doom bands ever and the new album might be a little divisive in that it is not as doomy and gloomy as they have typically been in the past. It still retains a lot of the melancholia and dark melodic themes, but it definitely has a more uplifting and even poppy vibe to it to be honest.
