Magnapinna Squids | NEW Encounter 2021 - Deepsea Oddities

In November 2021, one of the deep ocean’s most extraordinary and elusive inhabitants was found by a NOAA ROV in the Gulf of Mexico. The resulting footage is some of the best and clearest ever recorded of a Magnapinna Squid, also known as the Bigfin. In addition to examining this encounter, we look at some of the other key pieces of footage available of the Magnapinna Squids. These animals are so rare that they have been filmed only around a dozen times, if even. This special segment marks the sixth anniversary of DSO, so it only seemed right we went back to where we began!
