This video shows a prototype for the patented MD Arms double stack Saiga-12 mag. This magazine can fire 2 3/4 or 3“ ammo and can also be mixed together. The rims are reset to ensure the top round’s rim is in front of the round under it. This design has been every bit as reliable as factory mags. In fact we have never had a single failure from this prototype during test fire and have even refined the design despite that fact. On one occasion a spring we had fashioned by scotch taping two together side by side came apart during firing and didn’t feed, lol, but that was nothing to do with the magazine design... The magazines will be made using superior material, over molded steel inserts and of the same quality you expect from MD Arms! The design is simple and requires not extra or moving parts to overcome the challenge of rim lock. The production magazines will be available in different capacities. This prototype can hold 14 rounds in the same length of a single stack 8rd mag! Some scenes of this video the mag was only loaded with 13rds. This prototype looks bulky but that is because we didn’t machine down the exterior past the tower area for locking in the shotgun.
