Southport riots: Violent protests turn into a community clean up

Riots erupted outside a mosque on Tuesday after three young girls were killed while attending a Taylor Swift-themed holiday club. Patrick Hurley, the MP for Southport, blamed misinformation on social media for violent scenes in which demonstrators threw bricks, masonry and fireworks at officers in his constituency. The suspect in the attack had previously been falsely identified online as an asylum seeker who had arrived in the UK in a small boat, while unsubstantiated claims circulated that he was on an MI6 watch-list.
