Shellfish (1950-1959)

British Instructional Film. Educational film looking at different varieties of shellfish. Lobsters - fisherman is seen loading lobster pots into a small rowing boat then taking them out to sea. Nice shot of him rowing seen from inside the boat. The pots are lowered over the side of the boat. We then see the fisherman pulling a lobster out of the pot and examining it. The lobster is then placed with others in a large basket. He comes back to shore and carries his catch on his back in a basket. Cockles - A fishing boat leaves port. Man is seen working on nets on the deck of the ship. Anchor is thrown overboard and the cockle pots are lowered. Men play cards on deck while they wait to get to the right location. We see the fishermen using special tools to gather cockles. They then carry cockle pots back to their boat and return to port. Cockles are washed and we see people enjoying them at an open air cockle stall. Oysters - Fishing boats are seen coming towards port. Underwater shots of
