!Hello everyone! In this episode i’m gonna build a tiny smoothing plane. As the material i’m gonna use very interesting piece of wood, wich was posted to me by Taylor. He describes it as eugenia uniflora. I’ve never use it before. Google says nothing about this WOOD (i mean the wood, not the tree) so if you have any experience with it just share it with us.
As the inserts (boxing) i used boxwood from my collect. It is kind of solutions wich helps to reduce wear of the sole during friction. The grain direction in the boxing is the key - it is perpendicular to the sole (glued with hide glue).
It is my own design of boxing - you can find more informations in the descriptions of my other videos.
Oh, and the iron - piece of an old and fat laminated plane blade. About 5mm thick. Works very stabile without chattering.
As the finish i use one coat of boiled linseed oil plus two coats of osmo 3032.
At the and of the video i have small suprise for those who decided to support me
