MOVING SUNDOG SEEN FROM A PLANE

This was something I didn’t expect to see while flying. I know the sundog isn’t actually moving, it is us moving in the plane to give the illusion. It really looks like it is though especially with the white trail behind it. For those of you who don’t know, a Sundog is commonly made by the refraction of light from plate-shaped hexagonal ice crystals in high and cold cirrus clouds. The crystals act as prisms, bending the light rays passing through them. Sundogs are red-colored at the side nearest the sun. Farther out the colors grade through oranges to blue. However, the colors overlap considerably and so are muted, never pure or saturated.
