Edmund Blair Leighton’s Romantic Paintings of European Culture

Edmund Blair Leighton (21 September 1852 – 1 September 1922) was an English painter of historical genre scenes, specializing in Regency and medieval subjects. Leighton did not receive much accolade during his life, nor is his name well-known today, but most of you have assuredly seen some of his most famous paintings, particularly God Speed and Accolade. His pieces are very detailed and realistic, with an enchanting beauty. He presented at the Royal Academy for 40 years, but never became an Academician or Associate.
