”Tempo di Sonata” is the only piece originally written for the guitar
by Oscar Esplá (1886-1976)
The Sonata was composed around the year 1930 but was first performed in 1978 by José Tomás.
The Sonata has not been performed many time since.
I personally think the Sonata should be placed among the standard pieces for the classical guitar.

“José Tomás knew and worked with the Alicante-born composer Óscar Esplá (1886 - 1976), for whom the Conservatorio Superior de Alicante is named. He transcribed two movements of Esplá’s Suite Levantina (composed for piano), as well as a previously unknown work called “Tempo di Sonata,“ composed in 1920.
