The initial shipment of the newly modernized M60T tank has been delivered to the Turkish Army. In mid-2022, a contract was signed between Aselsan and SSB to replace foreign technologies in M60T tanks with domestically produced alternatives, fulfilling the requirements of the Turkish Armed Forces. The M60T tank is now equipped with the Volcan M Fire control system, featuring externally visible components such as a periscopic sighting system, a Remote Weapon Station with a Commander Independent Thermal Viewer (CITV), and a 50 caliber machine gun. Other notable features include an air pressure and temperature mast of the Vulcan M fire control system, a Laser Warning Receiver to detect incoming laser beams from enemy Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGMs), and the Pulat Active Protection System. Pulat deploys outward during combat, generating a shockwave alongside the penetrating projectile, effectively countering shape charge ammunitions but not kinetic energy projectiles.
