Retired ERS-2 satellite reenters Earth’s atmosphere over Pacific Ocean

수명 다한 ERS-2 인공위성, 지구 대기권 재진입 북태평양에 떨어져 Now to a retired satellite that burned up in the Earth’s atmosphere over the North Pacific Ocean on Wednesday. According to the European Space Agency, its European Remote Sensing satellite, the ERS-2, completed its atmospheric reentry at approximately 06:17 p.m. Central European Time. The ESA also said there were reports of damage to property due to falling debris. The satellite, which has been out of use since 2011, had been gradually declining in altitude until it reached the critical altitude of around 80 kilometers when strong atmospheric drag began breaking it into pieces. Launched in 1995, the two-tonne satellite collected data on land surfaces, ice, sea-levels, and warming oceans, as well as monitoring natural disasters. #ERS2_satellite #European_Space_Agency #ESA #European_Remote_Sensing_satellite #ERS2_인공위성 #유럽우주국 #Arirang_News #아리랑뉴스 📣 Facebook : 📣 Twitter : 📣 Homepage : 2024-02-22, 09:00 (KST)
