IFFR presents: Amarrados by Amat Escalante

Intriguing report of a homeless Mexican kid addicted to sniffing glue who whispers about his vicious experiences. Amarrados is an award-winning short film by Amat Escalante (1979, Spain), who has been a regular guest at IFFR. Escalante has lived much of his life in Guanajuato, Mexico. He studied editing and sound in Barcelona and documentary directing in Cuba. Escalante was assistant director to Carlos Reygadas during the shooting of Battle in Heaven (2005). He made his debut with Sangre (2005), followed by The Bastards (2008). Heli (2013), which won him the Best Director Award in Cannes, is his third feature. Heli will be released in Dutch cinemas 24 July 2014.
