Mikhail Laxton - “Dying to let you go“ Official Music Video
I never really got to know my Dad. And when I finally did get to spend any meaningful time with him, he was already very sick. You see, my Dad had spent the last 25 years absolutely abusing alcohol and it had caught up to him.
“Dying to let you go” is written from his perspective. But it’s just a fairytale of my Dad slaying his addiction. It’s him realizing that if he couldn’t let it go in time, it would take him.
Unfortunately, in reality it was too late for him. The damage had been done and he lost his battle with addiction in 2007
Listen to “Dying to let you go“
“Well the church bells are ringing
And I ain’t been home in a while
’Cause I’ve been drinking communion
From bottles of whiskey & wine
And the pain I ain’t feeling
So I’m gonna take my time
Cause sooner or later
We’re gonna say goodbye
When our bodies are left on the floor
You keep begging and asking for more
For the first time I finally know
Darling I’m dying to let you go
While the choir is singing
I’m standing at your door
Thinking how I should tell you
That I can’t come around no more
Cause the love that you’re needing
Is something that I can’t afford
Lord knows I don’t want to
But I just gotta let you go
When our bodies are left on the floor
You keep begging and asking for more
For the first time I finally know
Darling I’m dying to let you go
Well the church bells are ringing
And I’m finally willing
To out down that bottle and pray
Cause darling I’m gonna let you go today.“
