Natural Dyeing With Weld

Weld is one of the more well known historical dyes of the Viking age. It produces a bright almost neon yellow in the right conditions but can be shifted to green with things like iron or over-dyed with other dyes to create secondary colors. Today we share excerpts from the dye day that our members Katla and Tyra had while playing with fresh weld and later shifting that color with iron. Although this video shows the use of modern tools and ingredients, make no mistake, the process of doing this over an open fire in the Viking age would not be too far removed from what we do today(with the exception of adding tums😉). We hope you enjoy the video and learn a thing or two as well.
