Vintage Car Artist (1967)

Basingstoke, Hampshire. Various shots of a beautiful 1910 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost in a garden. Several shots show artist Ken Rush and his wife, Jean, making sketches and taking photos of different features of the car so that Ken can produce accurate illustrations for a profile booklet on it. Owner James Skinner shows Ken something in the engine. Ken takes a rubbing of the words ’Rolls Royce’ on the hubcap, then gets into the car and James drives them off. In Ken’s London home we see him working on a lovely painting of the veteran car, in a kind of 1930’s / Art Deco style. He works from diagrams, photographs and measures distances with callipers; then uses an airbrush for the main colour of the car. We see several finished paintings of vintage and sports cars from different angles, presumably all by Ken. Great footage of the Rolls in this story; good C/Us of the different features. Note: on file is correspondence from Ken about working on these profiles. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH
