Mantovani (1934)

Titles read: “NOW Pathe Pictorial has pleasure in presenting - Another celebrated Broadcaster - MANTOVANI and his TIPICA ORCHESTRA from the Monseigneur, London. In a gay lilting Rumba of the Sunny South... ’Elvira’“. Pathe Studio, London. Various shots of Mantovani and his Tipica Orchestra playing a wonderful rumba tune - ’Elvira’ - with a very infectious rhythm. Mantovani is in white tie and tails while the rest of the orchestra wear sort of Cossack tunics. A man with an interesting guitar (two sets of strings) sings the lyrics, in Spanish, I think. He has hair like a chimpanzee (Amelia suggests it could be a toupee). Nice close shot of Mantovani playing the violin. M/S of the maracas player shaking his instruments and joining in with the rest of the band as they start singing along to the music - he looks quite funny. Unfortunately, the visuals cut out at 01:53:15; sound continues to end (oh, I was enjoying that!). Cataloguer’s note: I found this item extremely amusing for some reason
