Rome’s Oldest Marble; The Temple of Hercules Victor [The Olive Bearer/ The Mouth of Truth] Old World

Howdy ya’ll. Today we’re going to look at the oldest photographs of The Temple of Hercules Victor, also known as The Temple of Hercules The Olive Bearer. This is the oldest marble building in Rome, and the only surviving Roman building built entirely out of Greek Marble. The structure is also a Tholos, and once contained the Mouth of Truth, an ancient depiction of a Hero of Old, possibly the Giant Hercules. The Temple of Hercules Victor has many intriguing if not dark examples of questioning the history and yet the true purpose still seems to allude us. Are we on the trail of giants, of the biblical tales and the legends of old which once seemed like myth, but now appear to be more fact than fiction? Is the temple of Hercules Victor just one way that Romans kept in contact with their pagan beliefs, or does the truth actually stem from something far deeper, and more esoteric than that?
