Wagner mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin seen ’welcoming his fighters to Belarus’

A recently surfaced video purports to show Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin welcoming his soldiers to Belarus. The timing of this video’s recording remains uncertain, and the identities of the subjects featured have not been verified. According to Prigozhin’s press team, he delivered the address to several thousand soldiers after the transfer of the Wagner flag from a base in Molkino, in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai, to the new base in Tsel. Prigozhin said Wagner would be ending its involvement in the Ukraine war for the foreseeable future, and told fighters to prepare to head to Africa. He also said Wagner would help the Belarusian Army develop into “the second-best army in the world.” A man who spoke after Prigozhin and thanked the soldiers for their work was identified by PMC Wagner as the group’s founder, Dmitry Utkin, who uses the callsign ‘Wagner’ after whom the group is named. However, Storyful could not independently confirm if the man in the video is Utkin. The video was posted by a Wagner-linked Telegram channel, and subsequently reposted by the group’s primary Telegram channel. The text in the video post includes a few quotes and details of the speech, as detailed in the Sky News report.
