Ukraine’s rapid cross-border incursion into Russian regions has disrupted Russian mercenaries’ plans in a junta-led West African country. Russian PMC* Bear Brigade said its forces would return home from Burkina Faso to support Russia against Ukraine’s offensive in the Kursk region. Viktor Yermolaev, the head of Bear Brigade, told AFP news agency that many of his fighters had left the West African country, while some stayed behind. Bear Brigade, much like the Wagner PMC, emerged in recent years and is said to be closely linked to the Kremlin.
