MABEL’S NEW HERO (1913)- Mabel Normand, Roscoe Arbuckle, Charles Inslee

A year before Pearl White did the same stunt in “The Perils of Pauline”, Mabel Normand clambered into a hot air balloon, and lowered herself down from it via rope! As Mabel told “Photoplay” magazine: “The balloon got up about two hundred feet when (director) Mack Sennett pretended the going up of the balloon was an accident and yelled to climb down the hanging rope. When I landed… I sure had some choice words for Mack!’” Thanks to David Glass for the 8mm film print. Enjoy it here with my accompaniment! Scanned from my super 8mm film print on a Wolverine Reels2Digital super and standard 8 film scanner. IMDB for “Mabel’s New Hero”:
