Deauville, CID, September 2 2022 “America has not stopped telling its story through its films, acts like its films, imitates its films; and the films imitate America, there is a kind of evidence of the American art of cinema,“ said Arnaud Desplechin to the microphone of France Inter. He walked the red carpet of Deauville for the first time with the members of his jury: Pierre Deladonchamps, Léa Drucker, Yasmina Khadra, Alex Lutz, Marine Vacth, Jean Paul Civeyrac and Sophie Letourneur. For the opening of this 48th edition, the actress Lucy Boynton received the New Hollywood Award from Elodie Bouchez, the President of the Jury of the Revelation. “I love my work beyond words. It is an absolute privilege to work in a profession made of empathy and storytelling. So I am very grateful for your trust and encouragement, and very proud to be here to celebrate film with all of you,“ said the actress. The Deauville American Film Festival (French: Festival du cinéma américain de Deauville) is a yearly film festival devoted to American cinema, which has taken place since 1975 in Deauville, was established by Lionel Chouchan, André Halimi, and then Mayor of Deauville Michel d’Ornano, with support from the Groupe Lucien Barrière in providing a luxurious setting for the Festival.
