Chin jab in Aikido

The chin jab as explained by William E. Fairbairn and demonstrated by Tamura Nobuyoshi Sensei from Aikido and military close combat have a common history in the (pre) WW2 era. Osensei reportedly argued against killing even at that time but he taught potentially lethal techniques in military schools. The chin jab is such an example. Being completely out of fashion in modern Aikido it was regularly taught by more traditionally inclined Masters like Tamura sensei and Saito sensei. Practicing the chin jab safely without making a fake of the whole thing is an interesting challenge for uke-tori cooperation and this is shown superbly by Tamura Sensei and his fabulous uke at the end of this clip.
