In early 1835, the Mexican President, Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna declared himself dictator, fighting would soon break out at the small little river town of Gonzales. A spark that would cause many other uprising to take place through out the rest of Coahuila y Tejas. From then on, everything will not be the same. For the next 8 months, from October 1835 to April 1836, thousands of soldiers, ranging from all parts of both the United States and Mexico, would be locked in a life or death struggle over a frontier area of Mexico called Texas. The war would feature prominent fights such as Gonzales, Bexar, The Alamo, Coleto Creek, and San Jacinto. And also prominent individuals of their time, Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, Stephen F Austin, Sam Houston, William B Travis, David Crockett, Jim Bowie, Jose de Urrea, Martin Perfecto de Cos, and Manuel Castrillon. Once this war is concluded, a new status quo would be put in place until these two countries would once again come to blows, in the more destructive and consequential war, the Mexican American War.
