Until March 2014, Jacksons is pleased to announce an exhibition featuring the work of Danish furniture architect Poul Kjærholm. Kjærholm began his career at the height of Danish Modern’s “golden years“, and was the final major figure to emerge from the Danish furniture tradition. He developed an artistic ideology early on that he would be faithful to throughout his lifetime.
Kjærholm graduated from the famed Danish School of Arts and Crafts in 1952, where he developed a vision of modern furniture that combined traditional craft techniques with industrial production. To clarify his structural concepts, ornament and historical references were stripped away to reveal the beauty of the material and quality of construction. Kjærholm believed that furniture should intervene in existing spaces and transform them into Places.
