Delft is one of the oldest cities in The Netherlands and lies between Rotterdam and The Hague. Many members of the Dutch royal family are buried in the Nieuwe Kerk. There is also a shrine for the famous William of Orange in that church which is said to hold a wooden box with his preserved heart. Delft is also known for its “Delfts Blauw“ (Delfts Blue) pottery (porcelain) which is very popular with tourists. It comes in all shapes and sized like the famous vases that can hold a dozen of tulips, each stuck in separate holes.
